St. Joseph on the Brandywine needs more lectors! Student lectors have moved on to college and some long-time lectors have moved away or decided to retire from service as Ministers of the Word.
We particularly need lectors at the 7:30 a.m. Mass, but we are happy to welcome lectors to the 5 p.m. and 10 a.m. lector teams as well.
We are scheduling training sessions now. They take place in the church, usually after the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, and last approximately 30 minutes. We can make other arrangements for your training if 11 a.m. on Sunday does not work for you.
Lectors are assigned to read every four to six weeks, and you will know well in advance the Masses to which you are assigned. You will receive a handbook with guidance for preparing your readings as well as a parish-specific procedures guide that walks you through the lector's role in the Mass.
Please search your hearts and ask yourself: Is God calling me to be a lector?
Parishioners 14 years old and up who would like to learn more about the Ministry of the Word are invited to contact Loretta Carlson at [email protected] or call her at 302-521-7936. Thank you.
